Max Havelaar (1976) Official HD Trailer

As far as Dutch movies go, especially historical epics, Max Havelaar is unusually, beautifully shot, impeccably lit and relatively well acted. From the moment he dives into the ocean to save a Jack Russell from sharks, Havelaar embodies the White Savior trope to a T. Faber plays him with warmth and empathy, sternness, an explosive temper, and a cool cleverness.
